Joe Trudeau, Conservation Ecologist
Joe was born and raised in New Hampshire's Souhegan Valley. He graduated Magna cum Laude from Northern Arizona University's Department of Geography, Planning, & Recreation. In addition to the standard university curriculum, he participated in field studies in
ecology, forestry, geology, policy, outdoor leadership, permaculture, and conservation work in Montana, Washington, Arizona, Utah,
Texas, New Mexico, and Siberia. Prior to forming Preserve Land Works, Joe worked as a custom carpenter, high school outdoor
educator, Research Assisstant with the Ecological Restoration Institute, and Field Ecologist with the Grand Canyon Trust. His work has
taken him to New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, Utah, Arizona, Montana, and Colorado. He has studied and worked in the fields of
forestry, desert and grassland ecology, ecological restoration, mycology, botany, environmental history, outdoor leadership and
education, the forest products industry, restoration carpentry, policy analysis, recreation management, wilderness medicine, recycling,
and photography. He is a cyclist, mountaineer, and musician, and is certified as a Wilderness First Responder by SOLO. Joe is a
frequent outings leader for the Harris Center for Conservation Education.
Amber Fields, Forester
Amber grew up in the remote desert canyon of the Hassayampa River, near Prescott, Arizona, on a small parcel of family property
completely surrounded by U.S. Forest Service Lands. She graduated with distinction from the Northern Arizona University School of
Forestry, where she was employed as a Research Assistant with the Ecological Restoration Institute. Her work in the southwest
included numerous aspects of ecological forestry and conservation biology in a variety of ecosystems, as well as designing and
implementing environmental education curricula. Prior to coming to Preserve Land Works, Amber worked as a consulting forester in
New Hampshire and Vermont with Calhoun & Corwin Forestry, completing management plans, forest inventories, and timber sale
oversight throughout the Monadnock Region and beyond. She is a cyclist, dancer, and artist.
